The Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District, in partnership with Northwest Michigan Works!, Wexford-Missaukee and CharEm intermediate school districts raise the bar for career planning through a robust Educational Development Plan (EDP) that begins in Grade 5 and is revised in middle school and high school.
TBAISD has developed classroom materials and online lessons to help expand student career connections. Classroom conversations about Educational Development Planning begin in grade 5 and follow a process that is revised in both 8th and 10th grade. The program introduces a powerful new approach which lead students through stages of self-awareness, career-awareness and exploration, planning, and activities. Prior to exiting middle school, students engage in a three to eight week unit of study designed to help schools meet multiple federal and state curriculum and assessment mandates. The class work incorporates valuable practice of decision-making and problem-solving skills to support learning and enable students to make informed choices for their future.
