Social Studies

Northwest Education Services offers local school districts assistance  in social studies curriculum, instruction, and assessment in addition to professional development.

The social studies curriculum builds four capacities in young people:

  • Disciplinary knowledge
  • Thinking skills
  • Commitment to democratic values
  • Citizen participation

Social studies is the integrated study of the social sciences designed to prepare young people with the readiness and willingness to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a democratic society.

The instructional resources site linked below  is designed to help support Social Studies educators and administrators in the region.  If you are looking for specific information and cannot find it in the resources site, please contact us and we will get back with you as soon as possible.
